Thor came in to Welfare as an energetic 14 month old whose family were sad to rehome him because of a marriage breakdown. A lovely boy – for whom the Charity soon found a perfect home. His new owner writes :
We had been looking for a dog for some time after losing our lovely GSD who was almost 13. The kids had never not had a dog in their lives and missed him terribly.
We decided a rescue was the way to go and registered with several charities. We were turned down for several dogs due to the fact our youngest was only 4 and I was beginning to think we may after wait a few years when we got the call!!
A lovely boy of just 14 months old needed a home…he was well trained with a lovely temperament and better still had lived with a 4 year old child!
He ticked all the boxes!!
We picked him up the very next day, the boys were so excited! As promised he was a beauty! We brought him home and over the next few weeks he settled in well. He can be nervous around new people (mostly men!) and boisterous dogs but has improved greatly over last few months. I feel like he trusts us now and can see his confidence growing weekly.
He loves walks in our local woods especially when there are plenty of squirrels to chase!
His evenings are spent curled up on the sofa and occasionally he will take himself off to our bed…I take that as a sign he is settled and doesn’t feel the need to cuddle constantly (though he does love a cuddle!)
There are several ways you can support the charity, and not just by adopting or fostering a Vizsla.
